FAQ: Sensory & ND-Friendly Product Reviews
Fig 1. Loop Engage earplugs awaiting first outing
Everything you probably never wanted to know about sensory sensitivity

What is box of small things?

A ND-friendly place to check sensory aspects of everyday products based on real testing.

Who is this site for?

Autistic adults, ADHD/AuDHD adults, and anyone with sensory sensitivity around:

How do you test products?

I buy and test everything myself: no sponsored reviews. Method for earplugs is documented in full, with separate write-ups for ANC headphones and shampoo.

Are you a dermatologist / scientist?

No. I write from lived ND/sensory experience, supported by careful observation and real‑world testing. Background and full disclosure sit on the About page.

Do you accept gifts or sponsored posts?

No.
If that ever changes, it will be clearly disclosed.

Are the affiliate links safe?

Yes. If you buy through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Full terms sit on the affiliate disclosure page.
This keeps the site free.

Can you recommend something for my specific sensory needs?

Sometimes!
You can contact me if you want to share:

  • what triggers you
  • what textures/smells/sounds you avoid
  • what you’re hoping to find

I may be able to point you to a review.

Why bother with sensory aspects?

Most mainstream reviews ignore these, but they can completely change how usable a product really is, especially for those of us who are super sensors. BOST publishes the measured data most reviews skip, frequency attenuation, pressure curves, seal tests, and lets readers judge for themselves.
